Item Information

Parker PGI’s DB1 Series Differential Pressure Battery Charger offers free uninterruptible power 24/7.  It uses the differential pressure developed across a pressure regulator to operate a small turbine generator which produces power to keep a lead acid / gel cell battery charged.  Power is generated by natural gas up to 1440 PSIG system pressure as it flows through the unit from the upstream pressure and then returning to the line on the downstream side.  The minimum required pressure differential is 65 psi for 10 Watts, 85 psi for 20 Watts and 125 psi for 50 Watts. DB1 is CSA approved Class I, Div. 1, Group D certified.

A small volume of gas (30-65 SCFM) is permitted to by-pass the station pressure regulator, and an integral motor controlled valve regulates the flow of gas through the DB1.

The DB1 is microprocessor controlled temperature compensated with simple start and diagnostics, and is 12 or 24 Volt field-selectable while operating in parallel with station regulators.   The DB1 continually monitors the status of the battery and operates intermittently as needed to charge the battery based upon established high and low voltage limits.

The new DB1 communication feature allows the user to remotely control and monitor the battery charger.   It communicates via flow computer radio systems or directly with the DCS, SCADA, or PLC, and utilizes RS-485 Serial / Ethernet MODBUS.  Real-time remote communication can monitor alarms, battery voltage and temperature, and the overall status of the DB, including the ability to remotely disable/enable the unit.

The DB1 is maintenance free and offers unattended operation with a compact design that eliminates theft and vandalism.  Mounting options include direct pipe or 2” pole mounting.
